Today marks exactly three months since the first Euromaidan protest I attended. It was raining then, just like it was today. But this time everything was different. Everything has changed. Whatever innocence this city had left is now gone. The president is out. Police have left the streets. Tymoshenko is free. But people weren’t celebrating today at Maidan. The cost was very high. There is a lot of work to be done.

Thousands of people flooded Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv to mourn protesters who were killed in deadly clashes with police earlier in the week.

Demonstrators held a funeral procession, carrying caskets into the square while onlookers who lined the street chanted, “heroes! heroes!”

Mourners lit candles and said prayers while priests sang from the main stage.

At least 100 people have been reported killed during the deadliest violence in Ukraine’s history as an independent nation.
